QUESTION: Me and Judy went this mornin to 'move' her 83 yr old cousin to an
Assisted Living Place. He told Judy that he didn't want to go. She told
him that was OK. He has lived in an apartment building in downtown Fort
Worth for over 30 years. We have Hospice(they are absolutely Wonderful)
coming in 3 days a week. We got Meals on Wheels to bring him a noon
meal. We take him an evening meal. He doesn't eat much of any of it. He
likes the Chocolate Malts that I go get him from the Tandy Center about
a block and a half away. He has Terminal Liver Cancer and Congestive
Heart problems. Judy and his 75 yr old cousin from Denver,Colorado
finally got his apartment key from him this morning and spent 4 hrs
'cleaning' his apartment. Unbeliveable.......Brand new clothes still in
plastic sacks under his bed. Bad food sitting in his refrigerator. He was
a Capt'n in the Airforce during the last stages of WWII and into the
Korean Conflict. The Defense Department 'cut back' in 1953 and
discharged him. His Pride was crushed. He has never filed for any
benefits because he is still mad about being 'cut loose'.
ANSWER: for you Judy and her cousin. You have told us
such a sad story Robert. I wonder how many others who
deserve their country's rewards aren't collecting them
because of this sort of resentment.
They deserve better .......
