Brandywine Assisted Living
QUESTION: No, I'm not talking about the wonderful D56 All thru the House ;-), just
describing the state of affairs at our little home in Brooklyn. Lets see, we have Disney Parks on the living room window sill, Dicken's yet
to be displayed in front of the Window next to the Christmas Tree in the
living room (Ron is to be excused for displaying late since he's been
putting together lots of new furniture for the apt!!), North Pole between
the living room and dining area (the dining area is still full of boxes to
be unpacked), The North Pole Series will be the first thing that people
see as they walk up the entryway stairs into our apt. On the Christmas Tree are: the two D56 village ornaments (Falstaff and
Dedlock Arms) along with two Hallmark village ornaments and one Cat's Meow.
I have five Shelia's ornaments on the way. I also have in the living
room, Shelia's Dicken's Village on a cart we're using as a corner table and
also the beginnings of Hallmark's Moustershire. I've got a Patsy Gullet castle on the living room TV and one lonely
Brandywine facade on the counter separating the kitchen and dining area. In the office, I've got the Hallmark Sarah Plain ant Tall buildings on the
table part of the desk (broke down and acquired them locally after reading
posts here!) and Shelia's (Citadel which is Ron's favorite piece and part
of Rainbow Row) on the windowsill there. Upstairs...well there's my entire Cat's Meow collection displayed D56 style
on a table in the guest bedroom (and I really do have the Corner Bookstore
on the corner ;-) ). I've also got Shelia's Ghost Houses on the windowsill
there and assorted Shelia's on the bookshelves in there. In the master
bedroom, we have assorted Shelia's on the windowsill and a local artist's
piece from Meriden Connecticut, on the bed headboard. I have dreams of a Vitreville stained glass village in the bedroom in front
of the window and also of the Swarovski Crystal City in the dining room. So, we're having a villages throughout the house this season. I think
we're doing OK for moving in Nov. 1st with not enough furniture for the
large apt. (if you ignore the cardboard boxes, still to be unpacked!!). Oh geez, I forgot about Ron's Hawthorne Architect. Register Norman Rockwell
Christmas in Stockbridge. Yipes--where will it go?
ANSWER: We're having a similar problem this year. Our CIC collection has
grown to 15 houses and it no longer fits on the entertainment center.
We've decided to divide it up and it looks pretty good. We made the top of
the entertianment center our "downtown area" with City Hall, The
Cathedral, The Town Tree, The Brokerage House and Bank, and a Newstand. Our
coffee table is our "uptown area" with Dorothy's Dress Shop, the Ivy Terrace
Apartments, a small park area with benches and people. Lastly, our
kitchen pass through counter is the "restaurant district" with Wongs,
Little Italy Ristorante, Hanks Market, delivery trucks, etc. I know I haven't named all the houses but I can't think of any more right
now!
