QUESTION: One would hope so! Still, I thought it was a kind of cute, if silly,
program to put on as part of the facility's therapy dog activities. I saw
it on CNN, and it was amusing. Personally, I do not dress up my dogs,
except for the occasional bandana, but it seemed to be a fun event and had
the residents smiling. I imagine living in a nursing home, where friends
die and relatives don't visit, where you know your own life is way nearer
the end than the beginning, a silly, fun, event like that might be a
pleasant break in the routine. Made me wonder what sort of "event" my
therapy group could put on? Maybe let the residents of our facilities
judge a "pet show?" A "Talent contest?" Could be fun!
ANSWER: Oh, I love to do fun stuff with my dogs, but neither dog enjoys being dressed
up - sad! I do like th eide aof a talent contest, though, because it does give
everyone time to get to know their pets better, and show off! But of course,
as with anything, the spirit of the event should be fun rather than
competition
