Heritage Nursing Home

QUESTION:

I thought it was about time for an update about my father. He is still here in Lafayette with no intentions of going back to my mother. We are waiting for him to get processed with Medicaid and to get his VA benefits and when that happens we will be moving into a two bedroom apartment together. I am excited about that even though it probably isn't going to happen until April.
For now, my father is in the same nursing home I was in when I hurt my knee. The nurses there treat him like royalty. They just love him. And he thinks they are the greatest. I just feel incredibly lucky that he is happy where he is. I know I have feared for years what it would be like if I ever had to place one of my parents in a nursing home and I am so relieved he is comfortable. Would that everyone could have this kind of experience with a nursing home and their parents. Would that every person needing a nursing home could have this experience with the people taking care of them.
On to the B-day part. My father is turning 71 on February 17th and I think it would help him start realizing how much other people care about him if he got cards from people who have been following his story here. The people on this group have been so supportive of me and him since finding out about my mother and how she treats him and I would like for him to know there are all these people around the world who care about him. His B-day present is going to be a kitten that I am going to get for him and take to see him in the nursing home so he gets some kind of cat contact since Tony would just hide in the closet if I took him.
So, for those of you who would like to send him a B-day card or letter, here is how to write to him: Heritage Healthcare 3401 Soldier's Home Road West Lafayette, IN 47906 USA
I think he thought I was kidding when I said he would likely get a lot of cards if I posted about him. He acted like he was going to let me do it because it would make me happy, but I could tell that he really liked the idea of getting cards.
So, even if you aren't sending a card, thank you so much for all your questions and concerns about how my father and I have been doing. It has meant a lot to me to have the extra support.

ANSWER:
