What will the quality of nursing home food be like in 50 years?
QUESTION: What will the quality of nursing home food be like in 50 years?
In europe, they went mad with outsourcing. Competition grew and quality shrunk.
Then home cooked meals came back in as a marketable leverage.
I would love to read your comments.
I do a lot of research in this area.
ANSWER: Hmm... 50 years. Most of the Boomers gone, generation Y enjoying the
peak of their earning power, and generation X getting on... It's too
long a period; too many things would happen, including some that no one
living now would forsee, to guess about a detail like that. Hopefully
there will be real advances in geriatric medicine, to vastly decrease
the number of people who must be put in nursing homes as they age. (Alternately, if medicine keeps on extending the age of death without
making parallel strides in extending functionality, by the middle of
this century each person could look forward to a possibly long virtual
prison-term as an ever more dependent and diminshed person before
death. Charming.) In 1900, to have predicted that the car would replace the horse in the
next 50 years required some vision; there still were many who dismissed
it as a possibility. But to have predicted the potential parking
problem that the car entailed would have required a true prophet. I
think you're requiring a little too much here.
